Amazing!
I’ve been with HostGator for a few months now. I have the Baby package. I have yet to experience any problems except high server loads. The server load reaches 7 and 8 at times. Usually this is a bad sign but it doesn’t appear to slow my site down.
I love the live chat support option, it’s very convenient. I have used the email support option as well, it is also good. I don’t particularly like the phone option.

I am so happy, ecstatic, even elated that I found Hostgator!!!
My hosting history in short, starts with a lifetime hosting plan I bought from a company that I can no longer remember their name. I found out that their definition of lifetime hosting was about 3 years, since they stopped paying their bills and their provider shut them down with no notice to me or others (since there was a lot of chatter about them on Web Hosting Talk in the aftermath).

I was really nervous about who i want to host my site, i read about people getting jerked around all the time.. i feared it would happen to me..
I read the support forums here first, saw they were mostly positive reviews, even the ones that were negative admins wanted to sort everything out.

Very Poor Service
I am very disappointed with HostGator and have found the service to be simply dreadful – I would not recommend using HostGator.
Recently the server went down, they did not let clients know or post any signs on the websites that there was a problem, we had to be told by our clients that there was an error message at our site.
We have contacted HostGator roughly 6 times asking for an explanation on why this happened and why there was no protocol in place to notify their customers what was going on – we have encountered rude, indifferent service and even though we have repeatedly asked for an explanation – none has been forthcoming. We have asked for a manger to contact us 3-4 times and have had ZERO response.

Disappointed by Lying Tech Support
I originally posted in the shared server support forum but I ended up answering my own question… after I was lied to by a tech support person.
I’m really disappointed. I was trying to install a PEAR module I needed in Cpanel. It’s a module that lets you write data to an Excel spreadsheet. I like how Cpanel has a feature that lets you install the modules on your own and even has a search feature to help you find what you want. But for some reason, I couldn’t install this module because it was giving me an error.

Happy To Be With HostGator
I’ve been doing business with Hostgator for almost a year, now. During that time I had a few small billing issues (nothing that would rattle your cage) and a 2 day ordeal trying to get my account name url changed. All in all I’m extremely happy to be here with this group of professionals handling my account.
I came to HG on the suggestion of a good friend. I’m so glad I did. I was doing business with the worst hosting company on earth and was desperately looking for an honest company where I wouldn’t have to worry about being double and triple billed for the same invoices, my sites going down anytime a strong breeze went through Orlando Florida and poor,poor. customer service. I didn’t think there was a place like HG. Downtime is minimal, Support for the most part is pleasant and knowledgible and whatever problem comes up (which is rare) it’s fixed in a short amount of time.

Hostgator strikes me as a mix of very competent to completely incompetent.
I purchased a domain and have received good support for it.
I tried to transfer two other domains to Hostgator using the manual process available via my control panel. One seemed to go smoothly and the other failed and I was sent an email saying so.
I contacted Hostgator about the issue and sent them the proper password from the other hosting site and asked them to look into it.
